Blacksmithing In St. Lawrence Co Event Saturday

The local blacksmith could make most anything out of metal that your mind could imagine. And the blacksmith’s shop was certainly a warm place to be, even on the coldest winter day!

Find out how the hard work of bending metal to your will is accomplished at Blacksmith- the Second Saturday Children’s Program at the St. Lawrence County Historical Association at the Silas Wright House, 3 E. Main St., Canton on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 11 a.m. This is another in the SLCHA’s series of fun and free monthly educational programs for kids ages 4-10.

Children will get to talk to a real blacksmith and find out how he does his work, as well as make a craft to take home. The Second Saturday Program begins at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at the St. Lawrence County Historical Association. Parents, grandparents, other caregivers and their kids are welcome to attend this free program. Parking is available in the back of the SLCHA, next to the museum’s main entrance.

The SLCHA Gift Shop has books like The American Boys Handy Book, The American Girls Handy Book, and The Field and Forest Handy Book, as well as old-timey games like jacks, marbles, and wooden tops. Visit the Gift Shop and prove to the kids that you don’t need to have electricity to have fun! SLCHA members receive a 10% discount on most items in the Gift Shop.
